MASSAGE & REBOZO TECHNIQUES FOR LABOUR
An Introductory workshop for pregnant women & their birth partners.
Wednesday February 20th - 7-9.30pm
April date TBC
This 2.5hr workshop aims to give pregnant women and their birth partners the confidence to use the invaluable tools of massage & rebozo technique in preparation for, and during labour. It can help a birthing woman to relax and feel more comfortable which increases the production of birth hormones.
You will learn simple massage and shiatsu techniques that help to release muscular tension, calm the nervous system, balance your partner’s energy and increase the release of birthing hormones that can improve labour progress.
A rebozo is a long piece of cloth often worn by Mexican women and a traditional midwifery tool for pregnancy, labour and post-partum. Using a rebozo during late pregnancy & labour can encourage babies to move into a better position, it can also provide comfort & relaxation for the labouring woman. These are really useful tools for birth partners. The workshop will also include information on movements and positions for labour and birth and birth physiology.
Please wear comfortable clothing for sitting on a birth ball & kneeling.
Sue Boughton is a birth and postnatal doula, maternity massage practitioner and Janet Balaskas Active Birth Workshop© teacher.
